Some suggested itineraries:

Sonoma Valley Tour

Kenwood is only 3 miles away with Ledson & St Francis even nearer. Visit VJB for their classic Sangiovese blended Dante, view the Chateau St Jean complex, sample unique boutique bottlings at Family Winery and the Mayo Wine Pairing experience. Take a tour on Saturdays by appointment at Kunde in Kenwood and an organic educational tram ride every day at Benziger in Glen Ellen. Travel onto Buena Vista in Sonoma, the original Zinfandel winemaker, or sip champagne at Gloria Ferrer. More champagne can be sampled by appointment at Robert Hunter and other smaller wineries throughout the valley. A tour down Sonoma Valley is only 40 miles in total from the inn but covers the range of Sonoma varietals as you move closer to the San Francisco Bay in the southern Carneros region where Chardonnay predominates. Finish around Sonoma Plaza at Charles Creek and Enoteca before returning to the inn or dining at leisure there in the wide choice of restaurants.

Dry Creek Valley Tour

Take HWY101 north to Healdsburg and exit left/west at "Dry Creek Road". Dry Creek is one of the prime growing regions for Zinfandel and Cabernet. Dry Creek Road brings you to the small and intimate Unti, Talty, Dutcher Crossing, and Forchini Wineries.  Another mile up the road brings you to Sonoma Lake and a beautiful overlook. Heading back toward town, a stop at the majestic Ferrari-Carrano Winery and gardens is a sight to behold. Head west to West Dry Creek Road, where you can visit Preston’s organic vineyards and gardens, and perhaps sample some of Lou Preston’s freshly baked bread and olive oil! Next stop is Bella then Raymond Burr Vineyards where you’ll find wonderful memorabilia in tribute to the late actor, and tour his orchid greenhouse. Then it’s on to Quivira and Michel-Schlumberger, both of them striving to be environmentally friendly from their land husbandry to their creek maintenance for steelhead salmon spawning. Finally on to Lambert Bridge, Everett Ridge and a final stop at Alderbrook Winery to cap your day!

Alexander Valley Tour

Drive north on HWY 101 to our warmest valley. Take the "Lytton Springs" exit and drive north to visit Trentadue, Clos du Bois, and the new Coppola Winery Rosso & Bianco,  before proceeding to Geyserville. Turn east on Hwy 128 to visit Mosaic, Murphy Goode, and Stryker-Sonoma.  Proceed to the southern end of the valley at Fieldstone Winery where you’ll enjoy wine tasting and you can enjoy your picnic lunch under Fieldstone’s sprawling oaks. Head back toward Healdsburg, stopping at Hanna, Alexander Valley Vineyards, White Oak, Stonestreet and Sausal.

Russian River Valley Tour

Drive north on HWY101 and take the "Arata Lane" exit north on Old Redwood Highway to J Wines and Rodney Strong. Turn left/west on Eastside Road & meander on back roads to the likes of Iron Horse, Sunce, DeLoach, and Martinelli Wineries all marked by small sign-boards on the junctions. Working over to Westside Road, head north and stop at Gary Farrell for an unforgettable experience, then visit Porter Creek, Davis Bynum, and Rochioli. Visit the most photographed historic Hop Kiln Winery before proceeding on to Belvedere with its herb garden, Armida, and Mill Creek Winery.

Napa Valley

And of course there is also the Napa Valley, only 30 minutes from the Inn. Take Calistoga Road all the way to the north of the Valley, or turn off onto one of our many scenic byways to classic St Helena, or go along HWY 12 to Glen Ellen and turn off on Trinity Rd for Oakville
